Apple is planning to announce the launch of the iPhone 5 and a new iPad at a special event on Sept. 12 according to technology blog iMore.

Citing sources who “have proven accurate in the past,” iMore said Apple’s new iPhone and iPad Mini, a new smaller-sized tablet computer, will be open to the market on Sept. 21, nine days after the announcement.

The article also said that a new iPod Touch will make an appearance at the event, as well as a new iPod Nano.

A French website App4Phone.fr also said that Apple will launch the new iPhone on Sept. 21, citing Chinese sources in the manufacturing industry.

The alleged release date of the iPhone 5 is in line with last year’s release date of the iPhone 4S, which was 10 days after its announcement on Oct. 4, 2011.

According to iMore, the new iPhone is expected to have a 4-inch, 16:9 in-cell display as well as a smaller dock connector. Apple’s iOS devices currently have the same 30-pin dock connectors.

Meanwhile, the blog did not mention the release date of the iPad Mini, which is expected to be equipped with a smaller 7-inch screen.

아이폰5와 아이패드미니, 9월에 만난다!


애플이 오는 9월 중순 ‘아이폰5’와 ‘아이패드 미니’를 선보일 것이라고 블로그 사이트 아이모어(iMore)가 30일(현지시간) 밝혔다.

아이모어는 “과거에도 정확성이 보증됐던 소식통의 말”을 인용하며 애플의 차세대 스마트폰인 아이폰5와 더 작은 사이즈의 태블릿PC인 일명 “아이패드 미니”를 9월 12일 특별한 행사를 통해 공개하고, 9일 뒤인 9월 21일부터 아이폰5의 판매를 시작할 것으로 보인다고 보도했다.

이 보도에 따르면 신형 아이팟터치와 아이팟 나노 또한 이날의 행사에 등장할 것으로 보인다.

이 소식은 얼마 전 프랑스 웹사이트 ‘앱포폰에프알(App4Phone.fr)’가 중국 제조업 분야의 소식통을 인용해 신형 아이폰이 오는 9월 21일 출시될 것이라고 보도한 내용과 일맥상통한다.

아이폰5의 출시일로 점쳐지는 9월 21로 발표 행사 9일 후라 작년 애플이 아이폰4S를 10월 4일에 공개 후 10일 뒤 출시했던 것과 매우 유사하다.

아이모어에 따르면 아이폰5는 4인치 16:9 비율의 인셀(in-cell) 방식 디스플레이와 더불어 종전보다 작아진 독 커넥터를 장착하게 될 것으로 보인다. 현재까지 애플이 출시한 iOS 디바이스들은 모두 30핀 독 커넥터를 채용해왔다.

한편 이 블로그 사이트는 아이패드 미니의 정확한 출시일에 대해서는 언급하지 않았다. 아이패드 미니는 종전 아이패드 시리즈의 9.7인치보다 작은 7인치 디스플레이를 채용할 것으로 점쳐지고 있다.
