We're in a tight spot.

May: How's your assistant? Is he a good worker?
John: He's fine. It's been only 3 weeks since he's started working at the company
so I guess we should wait and see a little longer.
May: Sure£¬ but are you glad to have him? I remember you said that you needed a capable worker.
John: We did£¬ because we were really in a tight spot.
We lost a couple of big customers last month and I needed more persons to make it up.
Right now£¬ the new person's making cold calls using the telephone book and
that's saving a lot of time for the others.
May: You mean£¬ he's calling potential customers?
John: Yes. Usually£¬ when you first start to work for a company like mine£¬
that's what you are asked to do.
May: That sounds like a tough job.
John: There's nothing easy in life.
